What is Human Growth Hormone (HGH)

HGH (human Growth Hormone) is a natural occurring substance in the body, which is secreted by the pituitary gland, deep inside the brain. It is one of the most abundant hormone that is continually secreted throughout life and profoundly influences the growth of our muscles, organs, bones and virtually all of our cells.

HGH, also known as somatotropin, is produced at a rate that peaks during adolescence when accelerated growth occurs. Daily growth hormone secretion diminishes with age to the extent that a 60 year old may secrete 25% of the HGH secreted by a 20 year old.

Ample in our youth, production of HGH falls 80% from age 21 to 60. As you see from the graph , practically everyone over the age of 40 has growth hormone deficiency syndrome.

The Pituitary Gland in the Brain

Growth hormones are primarily released in pulses that take place during the beginning phase of sleep or during strenuous exercise. It is than quickly converted in the liver to its powerful growth promoting metabolite Isulin like Growth Factor type 1 (IGF-1)

IGF-1 elicits most of the effects associated with growth hormone and is measured in the blood to determine the level of growth hormone secretion.HGH not only prevents biological aging, but it acts to significantly reverse a broad range of signs and symptoms associated with the aging process
